Happy with Remap

Joe 'Bill Murray' Jenkins
"" Had the pleasure of Nick and Ben Paying me a vist around this time last year. Two very knowledegable and friendly guys esp when fueled with Coffee! Joking aside i recieved a top class service from them, before any work was done on the car with the Re map they did a health check on the car and engine. Once that was completed went out with Ben and they put the mapp on. MY GOD what a difference it made to the car! Again i would highly reccomend you go to R Tech

MANY THANKS FOR THE WORK/REMAP ON MY OCTACIA ON THE 13/07/2011.
I ARRIVED LATE BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC.  BUT WHEN I ARRIVED THEY SET TO WORK STRAIGHT AWAY. BUT THIS TURNED OUT NOT TO BE A STRAIGHT FORWARD REMAP. IT TURNS OUT THAT IT HAD BEEN REMAPPED BEFORE BY REMOVING THE ECU AND CHANGING A CHIP AND THE ECU WAS DAMAGED IN THE PAST BY THE LAST TUNER, OLD SHCOOL!

BUT THEY WERE NOT PUT OFF. AS A LAST RESORT THEY SOURCED A REPLACEMNET ECU AND REMAPPED IT. AFTER 5 HOURS. I PULLED AWAY WITH A SMILE.  THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB.  THE VRS PULLED SO MUCH BETTER IN EVERY GEAR. WOULD HIT ABOVE AVERGE SPEEDS IN NO TIME AT ALL.

I WOULD BE VERY HAPPY TO RECOMMEND R-TEC TO ANYONE CONSIDERING A REMAP ON THEIR VAG CAR.

MANY THANKS AGAIN GUYS. I\'M SURE TO BE BACK WITH MY NEXT VAG.

Skoda Octavia 1.8T 150bhp R-Tech Remap Feedback

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/153553-r-tech-remap-roling-road-results-18t/

Hello,
I thought I'd start a new thread & post my rolling road results (Surrey Rolling Road),might be handy for anyone searching either "remap" or "R-Tech"

The car is an Octy 1.8t Elegance,'52 reg AUM engine,on 40k & in good order/well maintained,& with the remap having been done at 31,663,last May.
It's a Spec1 remap,it cost £200,I believe they now cost £250.Only other mod is a Pipercross panel filter in the oem airbox.

Stock quoted figures for this model are 150bhp & 155lb/ft torque.
My results today were ..............................205.1bhp & 235lb/ft

So I'm happy. The car is nice to drive,a vast improvement over standard, nothing has gone wrong since the remap,no coil pack or MAF failure so far,so for anyone thinking of a remap,or R-Tech in particular, I would recommend without hesitation.
MPG seems no different to prior to the remap.31 mixed,up to 38 on a steady Motorway run at about 80mph,all according to the in car computer

One point of note...the tester only did one run, apparently these 1.8t's always give lower figures on subsequent runs as the standard intercooler is not too good,so with the increase in heat, the figures drop.A front mount is a solution if you have cash to splash.

Remap: vauxhall vivaro 2.0 115 with 169000 miles on the clock

This is a bit off a weird one as I don't Evan own a golf! But this is the only place I can leave feedback. Hope you don't mind me sharing my R-tech experience. I have a vauxhall vivaro 2.0 115 with 169000 miles on the clock, bought it about 3 weeks ago for my works van. I wanted to get it remapped, so I had a thorough search on google and came across the name R-tech, no offense but never heard of them before, but this didn't bother me as the reviews I've read about them was enough to make me want to get my vivaro remapped by them. Standard she was pushing out the exact bhp she was ment to at 115, (Evan after all those miles), after nick and the team finished with her she was pushing out 149.3bhp (131.8 @wheels) and 262.3lbft (216.8 @wheels) with a nice flat power line all the way to the redline, you can really feel this on the road, the power just holds and doesn't drop off. Very happy with the service I had and over the moon with the results! Many thanks Nick, Ben and Rob! Trying to get my dad to have his RS6 treated to a bit of R-Tech. Rob P.s thanks for the maccy d's :D

Oh And they were kind enough to take me for a spin in there own golf, that thing is fooking insane!!!!! Enough said lol!

R-tech stage two, 231BHP Golf AUM 1.8T 20v

I travel from the south east 140miles away just to get an R-Tech map, iv been up twice now and my aum is running 231bhp with a weak actuator lol, these guys bend over backwards for you and will help you out asmuch as they can, im soon to be going up again, i wouldnt go any where else :)

R32 Remap /Rolling Road & V3s fitted

Well its been almost 1k since my visit to R-tech Power,

Had my V3's fitted, Poly Dog bone mount and RR,

The hardware installation was great and prices were extremely reasonable! My mk4 R32 with another tuners map made 258 on the RR which i was happy with but i have never been happy with the throttle response and power delivery it just all felt so wrong, Nick agreed and showed me the throttle maps which to me just looked backwards so Nick slapped on his map for a trial to see the differnce. This transformed the car, feels like theres more at the top end and the car is alot more predictable around the corners when feathering the throttle. I couldnt not purchase the map after realising how much better it was. I will be back for a more custom map at some point when Nick gets his new R32 throttle maps written.

R-Tech Remap A4 Avant 130TDi (5 speed)

Enquiry/Feedback: Dear Boys at R-Tech,

A quick note to say thank you for making my owner fall in love with me again. Having read nothing but positive reviews there was only one company that I would ever let near my ECU for a remap and hence travelling at 6:30am from London to Hinckley.
I read on some Audi forum that the Stage 1 R-Tech map is the thinking mans re-map and how right it was!!

Let me explain ... a 20% increase in BHP and 26% increase in torque will hardly raise eyebrows in MaxPower circles, but figures are like the sugar dusting on a cake and for kids to play top trumps with, the way the power is delivered is the real tasty part of the cake; and in my opinion that is the R-Tech magic over and above anyone else.

Where there used to be a gaping hole, bogging down / stalling is now filled with perfectly judged smooth torque. No longer is pulling out of busy first gear junctions a nerve racking juggling act of no power, no power, no power then whoaaaaa wheeeeel spiiiin, then nothing. I now have lovely strong pick up from 1000RPM with a nice build to turbo torque at 1800ish RPM followed by a solid, smooth pull to beyond 4500+ RPM; though VERY rarely do I need to go much beyond 3K RPM with all that delicious new early torque.

I love the fact that fast roundabouts can now be effortlessly dispatched in 3rd gear, whereas before it was a case of too many revs in second or bogging down in third.

I no longer get sand kicked in my face on the motorway in 5th - overtaking without having to change down is a sheer delight. No additional torque steer but most importantly no Dual Mass Flywheel shudder despite a 26% increase in torque. In fact, any overtaking before was a heart in the mouth, clock watching experience!!!  Now however, it is an easy, safe and relaxed affair.

The driving experience is transformed from dull and dreary wardrobe on wheels with unrefined dollops of torque to smooth, fast and effortless progress each time the key is turned. This is exactly how the A4 Avant should have left the factory from day 1 - why Audi cant deliver this experience as standard is beyond me and a real shame for anyone with a stock or non R-Tech map on their 130TDi.

Weekly fuel economy is up from mid/high 40s into low/mid 50s with a mixture of London and motorway driving. On long steady motorway journeys (between 70-80MPH) Ive been getting into the low 60s!!! Under hard acceleration, tail pipe smoke is kept in check nicely and very slightly more than before ... but as Ben  put it no smoke, no poke

Im chuffed to bits with the outcome and the service at R-Tech. It is so much better to have power and not need it than to need power and not have it (Audi, take note). But even more important to have it at any part of the rev range, wrapped in silk!

Thanks again for performing sheer magic.

Seat Ibiza cupra 1.8T k03s stage 2 live R-Tech custom remap

www.seatcupra.net  member posted on www.golfgtiforum.co.uk   http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=191480.0

I thought that i'd give my 2 pennyth again after another re map done by Nick!

So, 1st car done nearly a year ago was my vrs octy ( please forgive me as its not vw but its a 20vt! ) which made 207bhp as a generic map.

My Ibiza cupra went for a short stay 3 weeks ago (ish) I'd of put feedback on seatcupra.net but when you put r-tech on there it just comes up ****** for some reason!? lol ) so ibiza went there with a revo stage 2, made 220bhp and 250lbft (ko3s), there was a slight issuse with a dodgy standard actuator so changed it to a forge one, went back to Nick and it made 242bhp.... the difference is night and day!  Its taken a few days to get used to it, with the throttle map being done to. I took a work mate out in it yesterday who has a megane 225 which is also mapped to 265bhp and felt that his was not as quick, so well happy with it and being able to get passangers squirming for the "he man brake pedals"

The difference between the Revo and r-tech map is... revo is very agressive as alot of ppl say so town driving can be jurky. Whilst driving through the revs it felt more torque, but it would tail off and there would be no need to drive it much passed 4-5k.
R-tech'd.... seems to rev freeererer. 1st gear will just spin up, but feed the power in jobs a good un! 2nd will see c 80mph with the limiter being raised to 7300rpm ish. When waiting to overtake in say 3rd 40mph ish and you let it rip it just pulls like a b@#T@rd ! The power stays on stronger for longer too as promised! Also fuel economy seems to be better to! As Nick said there is more control over the throttle with the map, I have learnt this since big islands and twisty b roads! worth doing!!

I'm not the best at explaining things so any questions re throttle map fire @ rtech plz. Top and bottom of what I have experianced is it was very worth it.... my only problem is that i have promised my wife that the mods stop there, Since then i've been thinkin.... how much for rods..... ko4..... what will that get me??? Golf Mk4 GTi 1.8T AUM k03s remap session

from Pat www.uk-mkivs.net

I first went to see these guys a couple of years ago with Adam when he first had his car (previously CC'd) mapped by them. He'd gone for a stage 2 map and also a Forge TIP fitted while he was there. That was a good day, even for me as I wasn't having any work done, more due to the fact that the 3 of them were so friendly and not like your normal tuner that wants you in and out as soon as possible. Nick went over Adam's car with a fine tooth comb to ensure he could get the best out of it. We went home laughing like a couple of kids that day, and I made a mental note that one day I'd have my car (also CC'd for the last 5 years) into R-Tech for a remap. I'd never say I was disappointed, as such, with my previous map - but it never really felt like a stage 1 mapped car should be. I've previously driven just about all the big-name mappers' stage 1 maps, and mine was definitely under-performing in comparison. It was smooth though, but probably best described as conservative. I'd had it on the rollers a couple of times, both making around 190bhp which is around 20bhp down on what it really should be (AUM + Ko3s) Now I'm never one to blame software before sorting the hardware first. Anyone that knows me will appreciate the amount of work I've done with my engine to ensure it runs well, and boost leak free, so it was a surprise to only achieve a sub-200bhp figure - not that I'm a power-chaser, but 200+ would be nice, right... Well a couple of weekends ago I decided that en-route to Inters, I'd pop in for said map. It was short notice but not a problem for them. I got there mid-afternoon and right away Ben read the map from my car, and Nick then fired it up on his mapping software. He took the time (even though he had a couple of customer's cars in to do) to show me exactly how it was mapped, what bits of code did what, and even told me how my car probably drove, based on what the map read like - and he was spot on! He then overlaid his map on-screen onto mine to demonstrate to me the differences between the two, explaining everything I asked. Then, the map was uploaded to my car I took it up the road and back, and I appreciated the map wouldn't have fully adapted yet but flip me I could tell right away the car felt more responsive and pokey. It felt like it just wanted to go, go go!! I held boost at 18psi for the first time (normally I'd have spiked at 18 and held 15-16). Got back to base to report and Nick was not surprised in the slightest that I'd seen a positive difference. Didn't get chance to go over anything much after that as Nick immediately offered me a trip out in his mk4 with the NOS / water injection. This car, as Rob above points out is insane!! I've been in a few quick mk4s over the years but damn.. heh.. Anyway, back to my car. I drove from R-Tech to the forum campsite, in traffic so no real chance to see what it could do. However, I then went out for a blast on the A-roads and well, holding at 18-19psi is something I've never had in my car before. The power delivery is very smooth, almost deceptive and I found myself yet again with a big big smile on my face So, in summary, my experience with R-Tech was yet another good one. Can't recommend these guys enough Nothing is too much trouble for them and they really do go the extra mile to make the customer happy. The guys' knowledge of 1.8t's really is exceptional and on that note I'll just say thanks very much Nick and co! Hopefully see you again soon

R-Tech Could not remap my car :-( for very good reason :-)

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/108279-my-trip-r-tech-remap.html

My trip to R-Tech for a remap.

Ok so i've been looking into getting my S3 mapped for a while now. After speaking to a few members on here, one name kept cropping up which was R-Tech. Being based in Southamptonm they're a good 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive from me so i wanted to make sure they could cater for what i was after. So i gave them a call a good few weeks ago and they guy talked me through what exactly i would get for my money which was... Health check/visual inspection on the car. Dyno to show what power the car is making. Remap then dyno to show the increases in power/torque.

As so many people recommended them and it all sounded good over the phone i went ahead and booked it all in happy as larry. Anyway i've been waiting for today like alittle excited kid for ages, so me and a mate left Southampton at 10am this morning to get up there for about 12:30.

Arrived, got the checks done, all seemed well then got it on the rollers. The graph was all over the show! Only made 198bhp which is obviously under stock for a 2001 AMK.

So that got me worried straight away but the guys started making some adjustments i.e trying to bypass the n75, changing the n75, smoke test for boost leaks etc and after about an hour nothing made a difference. The guy (believe his name is Nick??) came to the conclusion either a faulty MAF sensor or faulty MAP sensor yet no fault codes where being shown?

So in the end after 2 hours work Nick said he didn't want to map it running the way it is and sent my on my way with the advice on changing both components and to come back when i'm satisfied it's running better.

If i'm honest, i was always a bit 50/50 as to weather it was running right but as it's my only 20v i've ever owned i was none the wiser. He said it's so noticeable that when i do cure the fault i will realise immidiately lol.

So anyway i've come away massively disappointed as i was looking forward to the nice drive home with more horsies, but i'm also chuffed that there really are still honest people out there. Let's be honest, he could have just said 'Sorry mate your cars got issues' and sent me away. he didn't, he attempted to find them and fix them first which is top. second of all he could have just not said anything, mapped it anyway and took my money and i'd have been none the wiser.

So there's a massive part of me that is chuffed that i took it there to get such honesty along with help and advice. So as soon as i've got the car running right i'll be straight back up there with my cash :D

If anyone has any other suggestions or inputs to our findings then please feel free to comment!

Ta.

LATER IN THE THREAD.
From what i've heard I would definately use R-Tech, if it weren't a zillion miles from me.
Good word of mouth is worth it's weight in gold to these companies. That's why it surprises me so much that so many garages/tuners are wan*ers/rip-off merchants!

    ANOTHER POSTER

Exactly the same thing happened to me mate about a year ago. I travelled up from Petersfield (not far from you) to R-tech to get my AGU a3 mapped for its new k03s. I was soooo excited but after Nick had spent a lot of time and resources checking the car over he decided he'd rather me sort some things out before he mapped it.
About a month later, I was back, and my god am I glad I waited and fixed the things Nick had picked up on.
Really is a rarety finding a company as genuine as R-tech in this day and age!

Customer Feedback by Adam on GolfGTI.co.uk forum

Well where do I start.

Got my first TDI Golf MK4 after owning a MK3 GTI and the temptation to get a cheeky remap was too much for me to say no too.

I called up on the Monday and they came from Hinckley to Bournemouth on the Friday and mapped mine and a few others cars around the area. The power difference was outstanding. They scanned my car before and after to see if there was any faults; none so all good. The map was just what I wanted, it pulled right through the gears and the power was always there when you wanted it. Nick and Chris said this one was very torquey, strangely torquey. Still did 50mpg at this point so I was over the moon!

Later that month I jumped on a dyno at JKM in Portsmouth and the figures talked for themselves, I was quoted 170bhp and somewhere in the region of 290-300ft-lb.....I made 175 and 338ft-lb, this was just with a remap and nothing else.

From their customer service experience I decided to sell the MK3 Golf and plow some money into the TDI. I booked in with Nick and headed from Bournemouth to spend the whole day there. I arrived at 9.30 and got straight into business. I had them fit a Panel filter, Miltek TBE with decat, and a Sachs Performance Clutch just for good measure. After that little spree It made an impressive 186BHP and 368ft-lb....this was all out of a 130PD to start with. These figures were later backed up by TSR the following month.

Over all they are a very friendly bunch of people and will look after anyone, just remember to bring some hob-nobs.

Skoda VRS 1.8T AUQ Stage2 R-Tech Custom Rolling Road Remap 241bhp/273lbft

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/201820-a-story-in-two-stages/

I bought my totally standard vRS in August 2008 with the full intention of leaving it standard.

I went to my first rolling road day @ Impossible Performance where it ran 182BHP as standard...
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r80/Bertee1974/Kent%20RR%2027th%20September%202008/RR1.jpg

Then one day R-Tech came to my work place in Surrey to remap my mates Golf GTi, I had a go in it and got him to do mine.

Nick checked the car out, did some logging and told me that there was a slight drop in boost. I told him to go ahead with the remap and he did some more logs and told me there was definitely a difference between the requested and actual boost response and if I wanted the map taken off he would give me a refund.

It was still a big improvement over standard so I kept it. Nick left me with a couple of things to check out (DV, pipework, etc) and if I wanted to take it to his workshop in Leicester he would give it a good going over to solve the problem.

I went to a rolling road day at R-Tech in October 2009 where the car ran 200BHP (just). Nick gave the car a quick check (there were 30-ish cars there) and told me the turbo to pancake pipe was leaking and again told me to bring the car in during the week and he would sort the running problem.

Leicester is a bit of a trek for me so I have been putting it off while I have carried on tinkering with the thought of going stage 2.

The problem with the boost had got slightly worse where it would only boost to 0.8 BAR, a fault that was partly traced to the N75. This was replaced but it still wasn't hitting 1 BAR until around 43-4500 RPM and then it was struggling to hold it there.

Again, I was on the phone to Nick as I was at a loss and thinking the worst.

I explained the mods I had done and what it might be and somehow the conversation got around to me taking a trip to Leicester.

So early Monday morning me and Clive take a nice drive to Leicester with the car being booked in from 9AM-12PM.

We arrived nice and early, hit the snack van and then the boys turned up to open the workshop.

Nick arrived at 9AM and got to work.

The first (of many!!) power runs showed it was hitting 220BHP & 192 lb/ft but it was coming in late.

After checking everything out Nick traced the fault to a lazy actuator which was adjusted.

The next 3 hours were spent on the rollers with Nick working his magic producing a fully custom map, smoothing out the slightest imperfection until he was totally happy with it...

The result being... 241BHP & 273 lb/ft...

Nick worked like a machine finally finishing at 1:30PM.

He explained in detail, too much detail :), exactly what he was doing and why.

The man knows waaay too much about the 1.8T and if you are thinking about going down the remap route I would not hesitate to recommend R-Tech for both product and customer service.

PS
I know there has been a lot of arguing regarding remaps lately and this is by no means a dig at anyone and I wouldn't want it to be treated as such but to say I am happy is an understatement :)

Cleaner carbon footprint chiptuning / remap methods to optimise power and fuel saving

Ok, my turn for a review - and sorry about the delay in this.

First, my car - Golf Tdi 110bhp AHF. It had previously been chipped by Superchips but a change from a 5 speed to a 6 speed gearbox had left the car short of power. What was once a 140bhp car actually felt like a standard 110bhp motor. So, after a chat with Nick I travelled from Scotland to get a custom re-map written for the car, being convinced by Nick that improvements could be made.

I turned up at the R Tech premises a few weeks later - and hit them with a bombshell. Firstly, I had sourced bigger injectors nozzles which could be used as a direct replacement for the standard ones. Not only that but my car doesn't actually run on diesel, it runs on vegetable oil, having converted it myself. Anyway, it was explained to me that they don't normally replace injector nozzles and certainly wouldn't have entertained a car running on veg oil had they known. Still, just to add insult to injury, I mentioned that there was a brand new EGR delete kit in the passenger footwell and 'Oh can you fit that as well?!'

However, having come all the way down from Scotland I managed to twist their arm into having a go at it. Now, before I go any further, I was under no illusion that it would be at my own risk, so please don't be reading this and think they would do this kind of job as a matter of course - they don't !!

Anyway, having left the car with them for a week they were happy to work on it bit by bit between jobs to keep costs down. After a week I got the phone call to collect it. I duly arrived a few days later after the following weekend (they took the opportunity to do even more work on it that weekend) and I got picked up by a colleague of theirs at the local railway station.

In short, its now kicking out 156bhp - on veg oil !! It's like night and day to what it was previously like to drive with torque in every part of the rev range and in every gear. Not only that, the torque doesn't stop at the higher speeds like it does with most other tuners - it keeps pulling. And here's the best bit - the cost was far less than the standard cost of the Superchips chip I had removed - and that included the all the ancillary stuff done.

So thanks Nick & the boys for getting my car back to being fun to drive, it was well worth the trip. And thanks for not turning me away when the other 'unique' features of my car came to light. (I doubt there's another car like mine in the UK when you bear in mind the mods)

Now, anyone wanna buy a Superchips chip for an AHF Golf.....one careful owner...??!!

On arrival I could see my car had been well valeted , Bloody hell..R-tech  are getting Fancy !

Nick explained more about how they had done their new turbo cleaning method on mine and the advantages etc . Been shown a turbo in parts and seeing the "vane" issue it makes a lot of sense . Quick chat and time to head back to the smoke . I had not driven the car until then.

So i have a new clutch and Dual mass etc  and a stage One. This is a little treat  as it made sense getting it done at the same time.

I laughed at the feel of the clutch on the way out , By God it must have been bad for a few months before it went . Its so light now my 14 month old son could drive it !. I could feel the extra power straight away  but stayed   away from playing around until i understood the power curve more. Heading out towards the M1 most know there is a nice bit of Dual Carriage way . In 3rd it was  a little mental but as Nick said, its very very progressive and after a few miles it all made sense.  4th is "where its at " this is now amazing and feels "right"  I like the way nothing feels different unless you want it to. Hitting the motorway  I noticed my MPG was WAY higher than EVER. I was up to 70MPG all the way home . Once on the M1 it was not my intention to "Rush back" as there is too much roadworks  going on. 5th gear is like nothing i ever imagined . Nice and smooth as normal but with far far greater over taking power. Unless i was doing something a little  crazy i dont think i would ever need to go down to 4th

I regard the stage one as a very very "Thinking mans  " upgrade. After this i would imagine a stage 2 would require other things to be done to the car to keep it all in balance . The stage 1 works well stock so this keeps the costs down !! No need to spend more if you just want  a little faster "daily driver"

So..A Big thanks from me. I see the way Nick is taking his business into the Future and why so many are traveling for hours to get such service. People are no fools these day, we want and expect great service  and friendly advice rather than some smug git  in a fancy workshop  trying to sell maps for £400 !! etc (no names but its obvious)

The map will start to pay for itself very quickly if this extra MPG continues , But i know the turbo cleaning has helped also,  I really look forward to driving a few roads i know well and will feel the difference .  Cleaner carbon footprint chiptuning / remap methods to optimise power and fuel saving

I was running stock : 101.435 (117.287)/3992  BHP and 169.16 (183.59)/2000 Max torque

I now have: 132.458 (150.980)/3871  Max power and 227.01 (244.71)/1985   Max torque

Golf 4 Turbo Gti 1.8T 20v AGUB k03s ecu remap session

I had been booked in for the 29th January at 3PM so set off around 12ish for the drive there.

Arrived there and the guys had just finished with a leon and my car was straight on the ramps for a through inspection.  Found a couple issues with the lambda sensor and a blowy exhaust.  Car was put on the rollers and ran 160bhp standard off a AGU with a k03s.  The lads then smoke tested the car and found a newly split PCV pipe to the hockey puck so this was changed to stop the leak.

Car was then back on rollers for the mapping to take place, Nick modified the map file 3 times and we ended up with 224bhp and 226lbft torque.

Came away with a few minor things to fix at the end of the day and a HUGE smile on my face, especially when Dan took me out his his Quattro 1.8T going sideways up the road Big Smile

Always great chatting on with the lads down there.

Going to make a few more mods, mainly a forge actuator, better air intake/cold air intake and a custom exhaust and forge dump valve and might take a trip down and see what improvements it made/any tweaks that may be needed.

I cant recommend them highly enough.  Will always be the guys i recommend if someone asks for a map.

R-Tech remap feedback not bad at all!!

Yesterday I went to R-tech to get her mapped.

Turned up at about 3 and they got the car straight in and ran some tests. Ran boost logs and gave the whole boost/vac system a thorough check. They found that I need a stronger clip on the pipe that is attached to my intercooler and that some of my PCV system is getting old (must get rid of this and get a catch tank)

With this they ran it to get a standard power/torque figure and then went about putting their spec 1.5 map on it.

They ran it with the map but thought it could be better so did a few tweeks and ran it again.

Now running very well they did a final run to get the new figures;

Before map: 166.3bhp and 168.4lbft. With map: 214.6bhp and 221.3lbft. Very happy with that!!!!

The power and torque are so smooth. It doesn't spike hard like some maps do, its constant and holds all the way to the redline (now set at 7300rpm Wink )

The test drive was brillant, I couldn't stop laughing. Its a different car now, and quite an animal (spins up in 1st and 2nd very easilly)

Just need to get that clip replaced and it will have even more beans!

Big thanks to the guys at R-Tech, quality service and allways helpfull at explaining it all.

VW Golf 1.9TDI 130PD ECU Remap session

Well, what can I say...................

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, ITS LIKE A NEW CAR

Left sunny Essex ready for the journey to Hinkley got there about 2 hours later with a nice steady 55mpg.

There was an A3 being done when I got there so after about 30 minutes wait it was my turn, a scan was done that returned no fault code (always a good start), then a very thorough check of the engine checking for any oil leaks, split pipes and a general inspection of the car.

Then it was onto the rollers and again another inspection took place from underneath, everything checked out so the first power run began to get the current readings.

Now I have been to a few RR's and know how loud and nerve racking they are, but this was the first diesel one and I wasn't prepared for the smokeyness  but all was good and the car made a healthy 141/227 which was a surprise as its a 130 model.

Then the exciting stuff began and 2 more power runs a lot more diesel fumes and it was finished total time around 2 hours.

So the results, well I drove away with 168/276. But..........due to my clutch slipping in 4th I had to go with this map with the promise that there was at least another 10-15 brake and 20+torque to be gained when the clutch is replaced. Plus the promise that this map will be added free of charge at a later date either if I go back to R-Tech or next time they are local to me doing mobile mapping.

All in all I found the guys at R-Tech to be very professional and I felt confident in them straight away and would definately return for any other work I may need.

Then the fun bit the drive home, I am amazed it is like a different car, it feels so lively in every gear and throughout the rev range the map has totally transformed the drive.

I cannot recommend R-Tech enough and for the price they charge for a map it is absolute value for money, well worth the drive.

R-Tech remap feedback not bad all all

http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/270216.aspx?PageIndex=5

Hi, just putting my two penneth in on here to praise the guys at R Tech in Leicestershire, I took my car there a couple of weeks ago after having some problems with it. Spoke to Pip on the phone and asked if he'd plug it into the special computer and see if everything was looking ok. He said no worries and to just nip down whenever I wanted and they'd do it!

After asking how much this would cost me I headed down to leicestershire with 2 packets of Hob Nobs ( the payment) and proceeded to get my car checked over with the VAGCOM which showed it was free from faults, I left after a short talk with Pip and finding out what I could do to improve my car and the ideas I had for future upgrades. Since I enjoy driving the car so much I then took a trip to North Wales on a day out, called in at Demon Tweeks and got myself a K&N replacement panel filter.

After about a week or so I booked in at R Tech to have the car remapped, the EGR delete kit fitted and the EGR software deleted, as well as a short shift for the gear lever to hopefully tighten up the feel of the gearbox and shorten the throw between gears. Unfortunately, between the time of booking in and the day arrivingI noticed an oil leak from the car. I'd already planned to take my car into a local garage that I trust to have it checked over and make sure everything seemed pretty sound in readiness for the remap. I looked initially like a leak from the rocker cover but maybe a leak somewhere near the Cylinder head, uh oh..... if you've seen my other thread regarding the overheating of my car then this tells the tale of how the garage I bought the car off had allegedly "fixed" this problem and fitted a new cylinder head gasket, anyway, they replaced the rocker gasket and cleaned off the engine, I took the car away for the night and returned to the garage the next day only to find the leak was coming from the cylinder head and it needed the job doing not only again but properly this time. I had to phone up R Tech to cancel the booking and re arrange, The guys there were fantastic just telling me to phone in when its sorted and they'd get me booked in as soon as possible.

The local garage fitted a thicker head gasket as I told them the plan for the car in the future, remapping etc etc etc

and I waited until it was done.

Got the car back in under a week, all sorted and booked back in with R Tech, which takes me up to yesterday, the weather as you might know hasn't been too good lately!

so me and the wife drove down to R Tech, there was a Seat Leon on the ramps when we got there with muchos problemos! (don't buy stuff off ebay!) < personal opinion ofcourse!

once they'd diagnosed the problem with the seat, they got my car on the ramps and gave it a good look over, diagnostics run and did a before rolling road readout of the car.

I expected it to make slightly less power with having the thicker head gasket but it returned 144.868 Bhp at the flywheel and 122.653 at the wheels and 231.75 lb/ft of torque, maybe down in part to the cold weather and the replacement filter element.

The guys then remapped the car and after only about 2.5 hours in total from start to finish I test drove it, now producing 183.033 bhp at the flywheel, 161.303 at the wheels and 298.65 lb/ft of torque, this made me happy, yes, yes it did! and made the driver of a BMW 540i give me a respectful nod last night       ;)

Considering I've got to replace a couple of pipes and had 2 small boost leaks, I'm expecting over 300lb/ft when sorted.

The EGR hasnt been fitted yet due to postmen not being able to function in snow or something or other but hopefully that will arrive today and I"ll be back at R Tech next week for the second part of the twiddling.

Can't thank the guys at R tech enough, everything I asked they gave me info on, including what the next sensible steps were, what I can expect and they dont try and exaggerate or promise anything that I personally havent seen them deliver. Can't fault them and they get a huge thumbs up from me.

Cheers,

Andy.

Fabia VRS 130pd Hybrid Turbo Custom Rolling Road Remap

I arrived at R-Tech at around half 9 on the Friday morning just as the guys were setting up and we were immediately greeted by the lads who bought us coffee as well which was greatly needed.

The R-Tech team then got my car up on the ramps and spent an hour or two meticulously checking every part of my car over to make sure it was in peak condition before they started mapping it. After discovering a couple of dodgy jubilee clips and loose vacuum hose for my boost gauge which R-Tech replaced, we were all set to go.

The first problem they encountered was trying to remove the Custom Code Phase 1 map that was already on it as it had stored itself in some strange parts of the ECU. After a couple of hours Nick and the team managed to get the car back to running a stock map so he could begin logging and testing everything.

As Nick was working away he could tell that something wasn't quite right with the car as it wouldn't make more than 190bhp and he kept hitting a wall every time he tried to take the boost up beyond 20psi.

The car then came off the ramps and Nick took it for a road test to see what the problem was. A couple of minutes later and he returned, the bonnet was popped and it was soon discovered that the original bolts Allard had supplied with the EGR delete pipe were too short and one had managed to work itself out.

Therefore whenever the boost increased it would create a gap between the EGR delete pipe and the manifold causing a boost leak.

Luckily Nick had a new EGR delete kit in the workshop and on comparing my original bolts with the new kit Nick had, Allard had obviously noticed this issue at some point and offered longer bolts. The bolts were then replaced for the longer versions and the car was stuck back on the dyno again for some more logging.

I'd also like to say by this point it was about 4:30pm and Nick and the team had been working non-stop since 9:30am on the car.

Now that the boost leak was fixed we were in business and Nick was able to make progress with the mapping again.

By around 6pm the mapping was finished and I went out for a test drive with Nick.

Damn. It's fast.

The car is now producing 215 bhp at the engine and 310lb-ft torque which in a car that shares a chassis with a Polo is awesome fun.

I didn't want 340-350lb-ft torque as it is just unmanageable and the car just torque steers everywhere (as I experienced). Also I didn't want the turbo taken to it's limits as I want many more miles of problem free motoring.

The map itself is unbelievably smooth, it's very difficult to explain but once you drive it you understand. The boost comes in nice and early and the car just keeps pulling and pulling to the red line, it sounds mental for a derv at full chat as well

Well just one word to sum up the remap AWESOME, the lads there are spot on aswell, i have a golf mk4 with AGU with ko3s,and a few other bits and bobs, i drove the car for the first long journey up to the lads a R-TECH, as i did the engine build and transplant(was a 2.0 8valve) a few weeks earlier, anyway when i got there i told them i thought i had wasted my time as the car felt sluggish and just did not feel like 150bhp, thought i had a sensor fault or something, the gave it a good look over, tested everything, my FRONT MOUNT etc for leaks, the spent a bit checking it i was thinking there must be something bad wrong, but all they were doing was making sure it was healthy, it did it first run without remap and got 183bhp, could not believe it, it felt crap TBO, after they finished and worked there magic it pulled 224bhp, i was well chuffed, then the fun began,i went down road, the smile was on my face for days, TBO the smile still is here every time i give it

some $hit, they transformed it, the power delivery is unreal, and so smooth, if you need your car mapping there is no other option but to go to R-TECH

I just got back from my trip to R-tech.

wow!!

Went there thinking that i was possibly running around 200BHP with a custom code remap, turned out that due to a fault with the n249 i was only achieving 150BHP! (Fault been there since the car was mapped by CC)

After this was sorted the guys tested it again to find it was on 209BHP(nice improvement there) Nick then did his magic and with the R-tech remap on board the car managed a 227BHP, what a result, i had just gained 80 BHP in on morning.

I also had a Ben fit a full Miltek Turbo Back system(the guy is a pro at this), not only does this look really nice, but the sound is amazing, subtle change from OEM until you put your foot down.

Nick took me out for a test drive and i could not believe how bloody quick my car is. it just pulled and pulled. Lets just say the journey home was THE best i have ever had.

Many Many Thanks to Nick and Ben for sorting me out with this amazing car, couldnt be any nicer.

I would recommend trip to R-Tech to anyone

I used R-tech about a year ago to remap my Skoda Octavia VRs 1.8T. They provided superb service and checked the car over thoroughly before applying the remap to ensure there was no leaking turbo pipes and no obvious problems. Forge D/V fitted and away with the remap.

Nick wasnt happy with the figures after the remap so spent another 2-3 hours making sure it was tweaked to smooth the map out which he managed to do, and checked various logs on the laptop from the ecu. The car drove brilliantly after that, performance was 100% better. The car has now been sold to the first viewer as my commute to work has doubled but I will be taking the Leon Cupra 150PD down there for another remap in a few months.

Nick & Ben- Special thanks to you two for going that extra mile for me and finally getting the car how it should be. I really appreciate it and I meant what I said about bringing your family’s (that goes to all of you) For all those who are unsure of R-tech and think it might be too far I can personally assure you that it will be well worth it. I am a returning customer of theirs because of their workmanship and cannot stop recommending them. Even though I travel from SW London I know they will sort everything out before I leave. Well what is there to say, had a good bit of work carried out by these guys on my mk4 Golf GTI Turbo AGU engine, Milltek cat back exhaust, 3 inch downpipe n de-cat, Pipercross panel filter, Forge 007p re-circ valve, Forge Dog Mount Bush and a nice Stage 2 remap. All work was carried out by Nick and the guys and it totally transformed my 150bhp turbo into a real GTI Turbo running 198bhp.

These guys really know what there doing and wont just remap your car unless they know it wont damage it. they give it a check over first to make sure your car is healthy and then get to work. And even the after service is great, never been to a company like it.

Hi Nick
Having already been running the r-tech stage 1 gen3 map of which i was already impressed with I got the chance to come down for the gen 4 beta map to be put onto my golf Ben carried this out for me and Chris and Nick explained the changes and differences in the new map in detail what can I say other than its F*****G awesome!!! pins you back into the recaros power delivery through gear changes is real crisp and precise a real smooth delivery and spread of power even from low down rpm/mph seems to rev so freely with power all the way through to the redline/limiter just an intense feeling I could say of power before you know it your up to 3 figures very easily!! fuel economy is still good to but who\'s worried about that with this feeling of power!! the lads at r-tech have obviously worked hard in tweaking this new map in the various areas were they thought needed so as to give a really good map to future customers.

I am real pleased that I am one of the first to be able to benifit from their beta4 map these lads certainley are tops for their commitment to supplying customers with a first class map in every way and how can they get better?..
I dont have an answer but i bet they do every r-tech customer including myself doesn't have anything bad to say with the company or their maps and this in my book puts other big tuning companys to shame i'l be sticking with the lads at r-tech enough said really!! i have said before try the rest if you want then try the BEST!! cheers nick, ben & chris

Re-Map to 05 Audi A3 2.0t FSI Quattro

Hi Nick

I should of emailed you earlier to thank you and the team for the re-map on my Audi which you did on the 10th August this year. You guys were very good to wait for me until quite late in the day as I was driving up from Surrey after having already driven from Liverpool that day to collect it from the garage.

Don't know if you recall but although the re-map was successful there wasn't any real noticeable difference to the car as you identified that it had a faulty diverter valve and a damaged hose. Having had these replaced I was looking forward to seeing a marked difference in performance and couldn't wait to pick the car up to see the results. The difference can only been described as mind-blowing. The acceleration and torque in every single gear including 6th is awesome and is far better than I could of hoped for. I'll be sure to recommend you to friends if ever they are travelling across with their cars and in the meantime one of my work colleagues if he hasn't already been in touch will be soon as he is looking to have his tdi golf re-mapped.

Many thanks again for a fantastic service.

 Best regards

John

Golf IV GTI 1.8T 20v AGU with K03s Turbo upgrade & R-Tech 230bhp+ remap

Just thought that I would my add review from the end of January:

At the start of this week I fitted a secondhand K03s and Forge TIP to my 1999 AGU Golf.

The car already had a full Milltek system, 3" Milltek downpipe and 200 cell sports cat, K&N panel filter and Revo remap.

I was doubtful as to what gains I would get from fitting a K03s and whether it would be worth the time and money as the car had already been rolling roaded and produced just over 200bhp! I spoke to Nick at R-Tech and he said that I would achieve a noticeable difference and it was a worthwhile conversion.

So I bought a K03s and Forge TIP from a member on here for a good price. Thanks MK4MooseGTI

When I fitted the turbo I discovered that the exhaust manifold had cracked and was blowing so I had to buy another one. Thanks to Jody at Midland VW for sorting this out for me.

Nick and Ben from R-Tech came to my house yesterday afternoon and remapped the car.

They started off by scanning the car for faults with VAG-COM and driving the car as it was. Nick commented on how well it went for a stage one mapped car. Then they removed the ECU and removed the chip and read the original file from it. It turns out the Revo map was very aggressive and ran a lot of ignition advance and about as much boost as the little K03 could push. No wonder it was making 200bhp The chap I bought it from was a friend of the guys at Revo so he obviously had had the map tweaked a little from the standard stage one map!

Nick then reflashed the ECU with his K03s/AGU map. I asked for the map to push the K03s as hard as possible as I wanted a noticeable difference. Nick was happy to do this with the proviso that I only run Super Unleaded. This was no problem as I only ever run my car on Shell V-Power which is probably a good job considering how aggressive the Revo remap was!

Once the ECU was flashed we were ready to go. What a disappointment! The car felt flat, the boost could be heard to be surging at around 3000-4000 rpm and the promised 5000rpm to the redline rush was non existent. Nick suggested that we try a different diverter valve and clean the throttle body. To be honest at this point I couldn't see how this would make any difference.

Back to my house and Nick removed the throttle body and cleaned it whilst Ben fitted the new Forge 007p diverter. The throttle body was filthy, caked with oil and muck, Once it was clean and realigned with VAG-COM were ready to go again. I was still dubious that either of these changes would really make a difference. How wrong was I!!! The car was transformed, smooth coming on to boost, holding on to boost all the way to the red line and so much faster. I was in love Nick said that he would put the Revo map back on so that I could compare the two maps and if I prefered the Revo map then he would leave it on and not charge me anything! I didn't need to do this I was more than happy to pay for the R-Tech map as it was superior in everyway. Smoother, faster, stronger, just plain better!

I have been tuning/modding/wasting money on cars since I passed my driving test 15 years ago so I've seen and heard it all. R-Tech are one of the few companies that I have come across who genuinely offer an excellent product and superb customer service. A lot of companies would do well to learn from them. The fact that I've bothered to sit down and type this post shows how pleased I am. Normally I am far too lazy to write this much

If you want a remap go to them. I shall be recommending them to everyone.

I have had a few from problems with the car since. None of which have been anything to do with the remap. A brand new faulty plug resulted in a bent conrod and the car being off the road for three months until I got round to rebuilding the engine. I have recently rebuilt the engine and put the car back on the road and having not driven it for a few months I had forgotten how quick and smooth it is and stand by all my original comments 100%. I have fallen back in love again

Nick has always been happy to help to offer support and advice whilst I was finding the cause of my dead engine. The aftersales support from R-Tech is second to none. I honestly don't think I have dealt with a company who have such good aftersales service. I am pleased to see that they are doing so well. With their quality of service and excellent value for money I can't see how they will be anything other than a success.

Golf IV GTI 1.8T 20v AGU 150bhp Spec1 Remap Session

Just a quickie to let people know how pleased i am with the service i recieved from R-Tech the other day.

I had my AGU remapped and im chuffed with the performance compared to before. They found that my throttle body was knackered when they remapped it, and i was very pleased when they swapped it for me, at no extra cost, which i thought was excellent service.

I also had a decat downpipe. Part and fitment. I already had a crappy bodge job of an ebay decat fitted by a rubbish local garage. When the guys at r-tech seen it they couldnt believe how the previous garage had mangled my exhaust. They managed to sort it out for me, after grafting on it for a good while, also at no extra cost.

I would just like to say Thank you, to Nick and Ben for sorting me out. And i would advise everybody to go to them with any problems with their golf. They are genuine guys, and i believe thats hard to find when it comes to car mechanics. Its nice to be able to trust the people who are working on your car. They are there to provide a good service and that is what they do. They are also very experienced at working on Golfs and know an awful lot.

I dnt want to take my car anywhere else for anything now ive seen the service they provide.

Thanks again R-Tech

Evening everyone. I have recently had my 2000 1.8T Golf GTI re-mapped by R-Tech.

Firstly what a bargain £190 inc Vat, I had prices from Regal and they wanted way over £300!!

The car really moves now, I would go as far to say it would have given my old Saab Aero(250) a good run for its money.

Love it, thanks guy.

Had my TDI 130 remapped by Nick & Ben last November after previously having a Custom Code map on it.

They spent a good hour checking over the car before loading their map on. Difference between the two maps is night and day. Here's the last RR graph i have

Customer service is A1 - Nick is always on the end of the phone with advice and even just for a general chat; the blokes passion for cars is second to none

I'll be heading up to their workshop towards the end of the summer for some tweaking and maybe some other goodies - haven't decided yet lol

I had my car mapped by R-Tech 6 months ago now, what a difference it pulls like a train and puts a smile on your face every time you put your foot down

Had a few boost problems along the way, but with Nicks help its all sorted. He will go out of his way to help you if you have any problems!!!

R-Techs maps are strong and smooth and great value for money and their aftercare service is second to none

Anyone thinking about getting a R-Tech remap, just do it you won't regret it. Any diesel owners worried about their clutch, I've done 20k with a remap now and still going strong (touches wood)

Thanks for everything Nick, you're a star

Having already had my car mapped by another company and not been happy with it - and now having the necessary modifications for stage 2 - it was time for a new map! Having done some research i quickly noticed all the positive feedback coming in from people who had visited R-Tech.

I went down there Saturday afternoon after having a quick chat with Nick on the phone, who i was instanly impressed with - Great customer service from the off!

Before we started they scrutineered my car, checking for any common faults etc.
It turned out i had leak in the PCV system. This would have been spotted had the original company who mapped it had even checked for any possible faults.
The car was then VAG-COM checked to see if there were any other underlying issues.
Having been given the all clear Nick took my car out for a spin - i think he was unimpressed with the map on there. He then took me out in another golf that had been mapped by themsleves to show me how a stage 1 should really feel. The difference was night and day. Not only was there more power but the delivery was completley spot on.
We then put my car on the rollers and straight away you could tell that there was something not quite right - which the other company should have flagged imediatley. All the lads are R-Tech mucked in to try and get my car running right - eliminating every possible cause of the problem.

Once loading R-Techs stage 1 map the car preformed completley different. So much more useable power and so much more torque. Due to the leak Nick didnt want to push my car to hard so the stage one software stayed on.

I will be definatley going back to R-Tech ASAP to finish off the mapping work as soon as i have my PCV issues sorted.
There was a completley different level of customer service and knowledge offered to me at R-Tech compared the last company i visited for mapping - Who are a reputable company found on the forum.

The lads are all helpful, genuine and knowladgble people! - If your looking for a map - These are your guys!

I cant wait to go down there and get stage 2!!

Cheers,

Sean

Again perfect feedback being given, you guys were brilliant, cant fault your service in anyway. Remapped my 1.9 TDI 90BHP, ended up being a tricky job seeing the chip couldnt be recoded via the VAGCOM port, they took the ECU out, removed the old chip and put a brand new re-mapped one on!

Will be coming back to you guys very soon when I get my new injectors and I need another map to get some nice power gains!

Heres a graph from a rolling road to show you the gain there map did!

Well what can I say!

Ben has just left after remapping my car. A really nice bloke and he told me what time he would arrive, kept in contact all morning. Talked me threw what he was going to do and explained the process. Took about 2hrs in total, he came to my work so I was in and out but totally relaxed with leaving my car with him. We talked cars and he VAG-COM checked my car, no faults so very happy.

I've just taken it out for a quick run, WOW! It has totally transformed the way the car drives. Such a smooth map, but so strong, pulls all the way up the rev range. If your thinking about getting your car mapped with these guys, go for it. A reliable, friendly service is what you'll get, oh plus a massive smile on your face when you next take your car out

Great jobs guys, speak soon. Now this decat pipe...

Follow up feedback:

Hi guys, had my car set up on the rolling road, see my Build Thread for details. Just wanted to say what a fantastic service I received again from all the guys at R-Tech. Take such care with their work and your car too, little example Nick made a protective piece of cardboard for the sensor to clamp to my exhaust tailpipe. Only little I know, but have been to other places before where this kind of detail not been carried out.

A fantastic service all round and great advice. Very pleased with my power and I'll order that N75 up Nick.

Cheers again, Si

Golf IV GTI 1.8T 20v AGU 150bhp spec1 remap

Had my car mapped by Nick today, as part of the May special offer.

The process wasn't as straight forward as Nick had hoped, (this car is cursed - I'm sure!)  as the car wouldn't accept the map initially. The ECU came out, and it transpired that the code on the ECU, and the software that was on it originally did not match. The ECU went back in, and by some stroke of luck, it restarted. The map was loaded through the OBD port without a hitch, Nick then cleaned the throttle body out, which turned out to be one of the most gunged up one he had seen! It looked like it had come out of a diesel, rather than a Petrol motor!

With this back on, and another VAGCOM scan of the car carried out, I took it for a test drive. The power delivery was instantly noticable, and very smooth and progressive. The mid range power was fantastic, powerful without being harsh. I half expected the clutch to slip, although it held very well.

I brought the car back to R-Tech, who then ran a final check, before letting the car go.

I would recommend R-Tech's services to anyone who was looking to gain extra power from their car. I will certainly be going back for an FM Intercooler and other

Had mine done at the GTi Spring festival.  The car is totally transformed.  So much smoother to drive and now has the real kick it should have left the factory with plus also is more economical.

Great service and offer from Nick and team.

Highly recommended.
